Long before Downtown Abbey stormed our shores and converted nearly every American into an Anglophile, I wanted to be British. It all started with a classic television show called Keeping Up Appearances. (Ah, Hyacinth Bucket...er, Bouquet...she knew just how to tickle the funny bone of my ancient ten year old soul...)
Currently, I have yet another reason to pine for the other side of the pond because, according to You Tube, the British have the corner on the "prenatal yoga and natural birth preparation" market. After a bit of digging, I found this series of 10-minute prenatal yoga videos that I have been using on a daily basis. I must warn you that Katy Appleton, the instructor on these videos, is so endearing you may actually find yourself referring to her as your friend and confidant. And in addition to the solid instruction, Katy throws in enough adorable British-isms to make me giddy--the "niggles and aches" of pregnancy, "well done, ladies", "that's quite strong".
If you, like me, are pregnant, busy and/or love the physical benefits of yoga but cannot justify a studio membership, then this series is your ticket. You may stack the videos for a nice 50-minute practice or just do one, 10- minute practice at a time. Enjoy!
PS- My favorite episodes are 1, 4 and 5, but that is mostly because I get to sit or lie down the entire time.
I was so relaxed after just watching . Now I'll try it.
